David and Young's "Manhattan Hat Company" features a "Happy Animals" line of faux fur and faux wool hats, perfect for winter! You can't order direct from their website unless you're a retailer, but I found many of their wonderful hats in the Athens, Ohio stores "Artifacts" and "Athens Underground", both on Court Street. I passed the displays thinking "damn, I wish those hats weren't wool/fur" before I even realized that they weren't. The tag clearly states that the hats contain no animal products whatsoever, and the best part is that their faux animal materials are as warm and fuzzy as the animals that didn't have to suffer to produce them! I liked the hats so much I bought two (justifying the purchase by promising myself to blog about them), one faux fur-lined trapper, and one "wool" cadet.
Let me know if you find these hats at any other stores closer to Columbus.

The hats come in different colors. To find a store near you that carries them, try contacting David and Young, the people who make them. They say they will only correspond with resellers, but they also say on their FAQ page that they can try to help individual buyers find a hat if they know which one they want and can't find it.
