Combine the bulgur with the wet ingredients in a sauce pan and bring to a boil. Stir and remove from heat. Set aside, allowing the bulgur to absorb the moisture, for about 20 minutes. It will still be a bit saucy.

In addition to The Columbus Vegan Meetup, The Columbus Vegetarian Meetup is vegan-friendly as well. The organizer emailed us to note that about one-third of the group is vegan, so he always makes sure the monthly events are vegan friendly. He always has them listed about a month in advance, and we'll be cross-posting them here too for your convenience.
Though we're not directly affiliated with PETA, they've asked that we invite you all to the McDonald’s Protest at 'McDonald’s All American Basketball Game' at Value City Arena. They're looking for volunteers to wear chicken costumes and anyone who's up for it gets a free dinner afterward. This is a peaceful protest with all materials provided. Please contact KristinaA@peta.org for more information.

How long have you been vegan?
I've been vegan for 9 years. I had been vegetarian for five years before that. I went vegan for the same reasons I originally became a vegetarian: ethical concerns regarding cruelty and the killing of animals, as well as environmental/ ecological considerations. A vegan diet is more sustainable than a vegetarian diet, which in turn is more sustainable than an omnivorous diet.
Just a moment of pause in our interviews with vegan humans to bring you an interview with a pair of vegan cats, who live with two humans named Beth and Steve:
(Yes, Sam Adams Octoberfest is vegan)
