for you! Our salad bar and food line are completely vegetarian with
plenty of vegan options, including soy milk. We also keep gluten-free
products on hand for those who request them...

Panera Bread

Average: 3.8 (4 votes)

Aside from being able to make soy lattés and such upon request, Paneras typically also keep a binder under the counter with ingredient lists for every single thing they serve. Their bagels are vegan except for the ones containing cheese or chocolate or special flavors, and they will bring you a little container of olive oil as a substitute for butter if you ask.

If you want a fancy bagel, the Dutch apple bagel is vegan, as are the obvious sesame,  garlic, and "everything" bagels.

Benevolence Café

UPDATE: As of June 2009, Benevolence is closed until further notice.

"Vegetarian/Vegan ... All natural, made from scratch ... Earth Friendly"

This place is also a bookstore and also displays/sells art. And I hear they have cooking classes too. Closed Sundays.

A sign by the register has info for their "vegan friends": Earth Balance available on the side, all desserts and dressings are vegan, different vegan soups daily. They make several types of amazingly thick-sliced, flavorful, and hearty bread. My favorite dish is Del's oven-baked tofu (half-sandwich for $3.25). It has a cozy cabin ambiance but with indie rock playing. There is a small hut of a jewelry shop next to the register (locally made).
