I was an avid knitter for many years, but have sort of dropped off since graduating from college. I've got a big box of unfinished projects, and in the time between then and now I became vegan. So I'm thinking a vegan knitting circle could serve the following purposes:
- We could just hang out and eat vegan goodies while we knit
- We could talk about types of plant-based and synthetic fibers. I'm curious about things like whether there are any plant-based fibers that lend themselves to felting, for example. It would be great to have a place to talk about this kind of stuff.
- Relatively recent converts to veganism (such as myself) might have stashes of non-vegan fibers (I know I do) so it would be great to get together and come up with a good way to get rid of these without being wasteful. Perhaps we could have a re-skeining party where we unravel abandoned half-finished wool-based projects, and then a yard sale or something?
- Maybe if we're really prolific we could set up an eBay/Etsy store for the sale of vegan knit crafts that we produce?
- And of course we could pool our collective knowledge of local places to get good vegan fibers, and make that knowledge available to the general public on this very website.

Update! A couple of people have expressed interest. Once we get to maybe 5 or so, we will start discussing where to have this. If you want in on that decision, contact me ASAP!
